Muriel-Evelyn Bracelet

I made and named this bracelet for and after my Mother-in-law. Her birthday is on the 24th December and so she usually  gets a combined Christmas and birthday gift and that particular year I wanted to gift her something special. She loved it.  A geometric design with a feminine feel to it.
It was later published in The BeadBook magazine.  Now available at http://www.etsy.com/listing/169740515/peyote-stitch-bracelet-murial-evelyn?ref=shop_home_active

The Classic Christmas Ornament

I share the Classic Christmas ornament pattern with you to enjoy! Visit My Etsy for more christmas decoration patterns

Marcia DeCoster Presents

Many moons ago when I started beading I never ever dreamed that I would publish a design or even for that matter write a pattern, do the illustrations and get people to buy it. Now, after many published projects , I am so grateful to still feel exited about a new project. To share my passion for beading, specifically seed bead weaving with other well known artists is such an honor.
Thank you so much Marcia!
Marcia and I come a long way back and my admiration for her designs will never cease as she makes right angle weave so easy.
The design below is an older pattern that would be posted on My Etsy at a later stage. The original necklace was sold to a collector in Namibia

Available from www.amazon.com
"Beading superstar Marcia DeCoster hosts Lark's second Spotlight on Beading collection, featuring 30 international artists ranging from celebrities in the field to exciting up-and-comers. In addition to offering examples of their best work, the beaders discuss their inspirations and techniques, and chat with Marcia about how they discovered their muses and styles. Gorgeous color photos showcase several pieces from each contributor."

Clementine

The Clementine Cross is an elegant design that drapes around your neck with sheer luxury.
Clementine  is an embellished pendant in the shape of a cross. It is 7.5 cm x 4 cm x 0. 7 cm
The pendant looks more complicated than it is, but a basic knowledge in cubic right angle weave
is recommended. This pendant  is a great eye catcher. Depending on the color choice it appears or looks like like a treasure from a  treasure chest.
Wear it to show off your mild, gentle and merciful nature.

The devil in the Photos

Laura McCabe  said the devil  is in the beads, most often so, but that devil can manifest in the photos of the beads too! I do love shiny beads. Unfortunately they can create problems for the photographer as I need detail and the bling outshines the beads. So back to the beading table to unbling the cross. Karen came out great and this is just one side of this beautiful pendant. The spikes are situated on different levels or angles and the center part is round. I have decided to list the patterns next week because hubby and I are going away for the weekend at Dikololo and we are looking forward to visit with the uncles and aunts.  I do not want to list without proper photos.

Busy Bee

This week was a very productive week, thanks to Hubby for cooking all the meals. I completed a new cross pattern that I for so long wanted to do and a new double sided pendant. Two beautiful designs that work up quick. The Karen Pendant ( named after my good friend Karen Hughes) is a double sided pendant and can double up as an eye catching Christmas ornament too! The Clementine Cross is now my flavor of the day - it is so beautiful and elegant, not too big and lightweight around my neck. I am wearing it all the time.
If all goes to plan, both patterns to be listed before Saturday.
I really tried to use beads and crystals that we all have in our bead stash. Both patterns use just a few grams of beads and you can easily get rid of those left over beads in both these projects.
Oh, yes the cross is double sided too.

Spike - The Cubic Right Angle Weave Bracelet

I am busy with a Spike necklace and earrings  and will post the photos as soon as I am finished. Just lengthen the pattern and voila! Beautiful adornment for the neck too. For the earrings shorten the pattern ( a lot).

The Spike

What a challenge to try and capture the true beauty of the 3D spikes around the bracelet. This is one of my all time favorite designs and something I'll personally will wear.

Pattern set available

It is a rainy Saturday evening here in Johannesburg. At long last Neema is available  - both patterns, the bracelet and the pendant, available at http://www.etsy.com/listing/166322013/circular-right-angle-weave-bracelet-and?ref=shop_home_active
I am looking forward to teaching my Master Right Angle Weave class at Judy's tomorrow. It is surprising what new ideas can jump out when the students start to play around with basic designs. Trust I can impress them just a little bit with theses latest designs.

Eezy peezy illustrations....

After doing thirty illustrations earlier this week I was so thrilled that the pattern is nearly ready for publication. But to my horror I forgot to press that all so elusive bottom - what is it called again? Oh, yes. The SAVE button. Save save save...... Well after redoing my hard work and adding a few new ones, this time I saved and saved and saved. The Neema is featuring more than forty illustrations and as you can imagine my hand and arm are by this time numb. If all goes to plan Neema will launch Saturday.
Take aways for the boys tonight and something sweet to comfort me.

The popular pendant

The design process comes easy when I focus on what I imagine the end result to be. But most often once I start to bead up the design the potential for other designs creep in.  That is the reason the Neema bracelet also developed into the Neema pendant. Do not be fooled to think they are exactly the same pattern, more likely the same technique but with very distinctive differences between them. And last night another bracelet came alive while testing the pendant pattern. Oh, that is why I love bead work so much!

Neema - The popular one

Neema - "The popular one". Right angle weave play time resulted in the Neema design. Many years ago I was asked to do an article and supply a pattern to a very popular South African magazine. The editor wanted a right angle weave bracelet pattern and while working on the design we jokingly decided to call it " Right angle weave  for idiots" . It later became very popular but just before the magazine was send off to the printers we decided to rather change the description to " Easy right angle weave stitch for all". Neema is written in such a manner that even a technically challenged right angle beader will be able to successfully complete the design. The illustrations really gave me some headaches. But persistence prevail  and I achieved my goal.
I have always admired Sabine Lippert's ( Try to be better) designs and learnt the joys of right angle weave stitch with Marcia De Coster's books and patterns.  This weekend I teach another Master The Right Angle Weave class and in preparation I have come up with a few new patterns. The Neema will be available at My Etsy and Artfire before the weekend. The pattern will consist of a bracelet and pendant design.

The African Collection

The first pattern in my " The African Collection" range. Thembimbi  bracelet in typical colours of traditional African bead work. A quick and beautiful design with an extra option included.

Trio of Bracelet Patterns

I designed the trio of bracelets in 2009 as examples for my Master The Peyote Course.
The idea was to teach the students to use their skills to create various designs from one
basic pattern.

Mei - the basic pattern

Beau - was originally named Bow Tie - can you see all the bow ties?.

Tei - two basic bracelets added together to create a beautiful, supple and elegant design.

Enjoy your journey through creativity.

Perla Perle

Perla Perle - One of my personal most favourite designs, I designed the pattern many years ago and it was published in Threads&Crafts Magazine. I redesigned the pattern slightly and there are two versions in one pattern.
Available at Etsyhttps://www.etsy.com/listing/125074464/peyote-stitch-bracelet-pattern-perla

Perla Perle

Pearl bracelet pattern will be available soon at my Etsy.  I had been playing with polymer clay for the last few weeks, but I am glad to be beading again. The name of this bracelet is literally pearls and more pearls. Perlas, perles, pearly - it is full of pearls. Whether we say it in French, Spanish or English, we all love pearls. Glass, fresh water pearls or whatever looks like a pearl, will touch a nerve of interest.
